Flags - Royal Navy
« on: February 09, 2011, 10:07:15 pm »

:-)) Hi Guys, Can anyone help,  What Flags do Royal Navy Boats carry as routine, where are the flown and do they have a standard size, ie what size for an MTB, Destroyer, Battleship etc.  Searched the net and can find all shapes and sizes but no size for each ship.
Thanks :police:

Hi
For flag sizes you could try here http://www.modelflags.com/acatalog/FLAG_SIZE_CALCULATOR.html. But as to exactly what flags are flown I can't really help I'm afraid.

rn ships Fly a white ensign and commissioning pennant at sea - in harbour or at anchor also a union jack on the jack staff (bow)
size of fly is dicated by the type of ship i.e. frigate or destroyer used to fly size 8 ensign and size 6 jack  BUT on sundays
size 10 and size 8 respectively
Cruisers and carriers would fly a bigger size - probably size 10 on a weekday
A size 8 is 6ft by 8ft if I remember correctly.
