Sorry about this analogy regarding the 'Northern Boat Show', but is Doncaster not geographically in the Midlands?
It is 102.53 miles, as the crow flies, from Doncaster to Newcastle upon Tyne and it is a further 57 miles, crow flying, to Berwick upon Tweed.
England goes 159.53 miles further North from Doncaster, yet London is only 145.97 miles South of Doncaster!
I do hope your show in Doncaster goes well and is well supported.
I just hope that the Southerners support our boat show in South Shields (Near Newcastle upon Tyne), as we support theirs, and that our show goes better than last year for traders and Exhibitors from further afield, or it will be the last one, as advertised on Mayhem yesterday.

Yep, but you still haven't told them when  %)

And NO, Donny ain't in the Midlands, it's in the North, and not in the North East. Clue in the wording.

Meriden near Coventry is classed as the centre of England consequently that whole area is called the Midlands, anywhere South of the Midlands is Southern England, anywhere North of the Midlands is Northern England, Someone will on doubt know exactly where each band begins and ends, Doncaster certainly has never been in the Midlands!

Why is there a sudden interest in redefining all out traditional regions of the UK (see thread about North East Show) what's wrong with that area being called the North East everyone knows where we mean. The same with the North of England everyone expects that area to include Lancashire Yorkshire and a few other minor Counties!

Yes but the correct terminology for the Capital city is always " Up" and never down no matter where you are.  :-))

when travelling to London is based partly on the importance of the capital and partly on the habit of denoting railway lines as 'up' lines (to London) and 'down' lines (out of London).

Well I go DOWN to London 'cause it's down south', when I'm forced to level Gods County.

Sorry Circlip. The venue and dates are as follows:
Temple Park Centre
John Reid Road
South Shields
Tyne and Wear
NE34 8QN
Saturday April 09, 2011 – Sunday April 10, 2011
Cheers
John.
P.S. I have nothing to do with the organization of the Show, don't know who does it, but at least I succeeded in getting folk talking about it. That was the general idea.
A Happy New Year to ALL.

Dear Wullie,
As a Yorkshire man with Scot grandparents Yorkshire is NORTH England.
Yes it is south of Glasgow, but please dont confuse us with the south east of England, ie the home counties and London.
