Hello, Let us hope that we get more club stands next year & a chance to get more people through the door. Do not forget that this is the Make or Break year for this Show.  Nemesis

Fingers and toes crossed that it works out well. Perhaps folk further south take the BBC View and think that Manchester is the Capital of the North, Hull is the centre of the North East and that South Shields and Berwick upon Tweed are the back of beyond.
Education and advertising with a map may help but anyone with access to a PC can do it for themselves.
I do hope it works out. Its a good venue with very good lighting (not like some, where you need a torch) and facilities.
There are a lot of people up here who support shows to the south. Come on folks support us for a change.
Sorry about the rant. Just a passionate yorkshiregeordie.

Cheers for that sentry and thank you for your Club's support. I agree it was poorly supported by others, as shows go and sincerely hope it will grow and grow.
The problem is that if people will not support the show it will just be another Titanic without the ice. Shame but inevitable.
Cheers

After the first show as the then secretary of the SPMBC I walked around a North of England show handing out programmes (produced by myself giving details of tomes location etc.) for the following years show.As a group of North East Mayhemer's we wanted this show to work.
It seems that the organizers of this show spend very little effort on promotion which makes it difficult for clubs to support the event.

Hi all

Can we all correct the show title it should read

The North East of England Model Boat Show

As South Shields is not in the North east of the UK

I am looking forward to the Northeast Show, having visited last year and sung it's praises at our Club sailings; myself and several others will be travelling from the Isle of Man for this years, our Hotel and Ferry already booked. The show was one of the friendliest I have attended for a number of years, and a good venue to boot, roll on April.

:-))FIRSTLY "THIS SHOW IS IN THE "NORTH EAST" - South Shields is on the South side of the River TYNE, how North East is that.  Secondly the organisers have not to the best of my knowledge, contacted LOCAL CLUBS with details of how WE can attend.  Perhaps some notification/invites could be sent out, I bet they have contacted the Traders etc.  There is life North of Watford Gap!!!!!, just travel further up the MI, join the AI and keep going towards Scotland.  You will pass a place called Washington and see the Angel of the North - you are now in GEORDIELAND where you will receive a warm welcome.  Please don't knock the NORTH EAST, we have some VERY GOOD MODEL BOAT CLUBS here and would welcome to show you, given half the chance.

10th & 11th April 2011. We are not attending this show.
DM@ACTion

It's just as well !!   The 10th and 11th April 2011 are a Sunday and a Monday.  You would have been amongst  a legion of Basket/Volleyball players on the 11th!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
A new calendar for that man.

The Correct dates are Saturday 9th April 2011 and Sunday 10th April 2011

Cheers

Pity it took 2 threads and eighteen postings on this one to get the dates, lost the will to live and slashed my wrists waiting.

Hello 151, What a lovely advert for Geordieland & the Show. Does this mean that your club is putting on a display? I do hope so, as long as you leave the swans at home. Regards Nemesis.

Hi All,

The venue for this show was indeed a good one, with ample parking facilities and refreshments available throughout both days. There were also sufficient tables and chairs made available for the displays.
The general concensus at last year's show was that it was poorly advertised by the media - in particular the local media.
To that end I will be e-mailing the local radio stations, nearer the time, to ask them to give the show some airtime.
A number of our club members (Tynemouth Model Boat Club) will be producing "flyers" to advertise the show in the likes of supermarkets, garages and of course the few remaining model shops in our area.
We will be putting on a display once again and would hope that those clubs that attended last year will do likewise.

Looking forward to seeing you all there - we must convince the organisers that it is worth their while  <*< - and I for one will be pleased to see as many Traders as possible O0

So come on everyone - visit sunny South Shields !  8)

Regards,

Ray.

Personally, I have been to this show and if I was coming all the way from Jersey I would say no and leave your trip until later in the year and come to the Model Boat Convention at Birchwood. There is also the avantage of 2 shows on the same weekend a short bus ride apart.
