Hey Russ, didnt realise you were building the Arun ! I have quite a few photos of the Mabel Alice, showing details if you want them ?
Do I detect my Atlantic 21 on its trailer,in one of your earlier photos?

Hey Johnno, didn't see you on here before. How is the new boat coming on, and have you refurbished the Elizabeth Ann yet?
Don't forget you half promised me a superstructure!! Cheers, Mick

no problem with me! she is at Bristol now, and runs trips. She accompanied the "Matthew" during the summer, while publicising the new Narnia film. When she visited Falmouth, I was privileged to meet the Skipper, and had a trip on her. WOW.

Hi,hope no one minds me posting on your thread.....

I'm quite new to model boats and somewhat foolishly, you might think, I've picked the 1/12 scale Arun 52 as my first project.

First question would be.....where do you guys get fittings etc for the 1/12 scale, there's a lot of awkward stuff to scratch build.

Secondly, propulsion. I fancy twin petrol engines. Overkill I know but it looks possible to fit two at a pinch.

Has anyone done anything like this on this model or anything similar.....??

Tell me if it's a mad idea.

To help it run straightish i would use a gyro on the throttle  channels to slow/increase each engine to keep it running straight

Look forward to any replies........ :-)

Hi ,welcome aboard. as you say a big starter project! a small comment to make re I.C. engines... make sure your prospective pond allows use of this mode of propulsion. There are quite a few that dont! ALL the ponds/lakes,in my area ban the use of I.C.s

that seems to be an ever increasing problem of banning the use of ic models on lakes , but with the developments in electric motors over the last few years means that we can now match or even out perform the ic motor with an electric one , and have the bonus of not being as limited as to where we are able to run our models ! id stick with having your lifeboat running on two electric motors . jon
