You could try tankzone.co.uk, they do loads of military vehicles and soldiers, but they are not cheap !

1/16 is a hard scale to work with when it comes to ww2 military figures, Tamiya have some, but they will need work, most are German tank crew. Try Historex, you will have to spend some time searching, and forces of valour, I have also seem some very detailed examples in a couple of film memorabilia collector shops, you know, the shops that sell star wars and other sci fi stuff, A few months ago I was in  a shop in Balckpool, close to the Sandcastle centre (If anybody  from that area can help) he had some very nice detailed American WW2 figures approx £10 each, unfotrunately cant remember name of shop  but I can explain exactly where it is if someone local to Balckpool is reading :-))

Dragon do 1/16 scale soldier figures from WW2, gulf war, etc.
I have not seen any 1/16 scale jeeps, but try contacting some of the 1/16 tank forums.

ben , ive not checked the vehicle dimensions for jeeps , perkins are selling a small 2 ch r/c buggy for around £ 16 .00 its measurements are 120mm x90mm x65mm , the item number is 3342000 . as an off road style mini buggy they come supplied in red , yellow or green which probably represent the 27mhz frequency colours they operate on . lookin at the small size they could probably be adapted to look like the willys or mutt jeeps of the era , of course they also carried the gmc 353 ( jimmy )  , studebaker , dodges , and diamond t as well as many of the other makes . a good source of photographs is the mvt who also have a hampshire area ! all of my contacts are too far away for you to gain any photos for building .

thanks for help malc, I have been there a few times, he has a very large and interesting collection of figures, and was very helpful finding me what I wanted, unfortunately he was saying the road is now 1 way, and very restricted parking which has severley affected some of the local business due to reduction in passing trade, so it could possibly be closed down now, it was the sandcastle complex end of the road, and specialised in sci fi/film memorabilia :-))
