Lookng for 'Electron' speedboat plans
« on: January 18, 2011, 07:04:25 am »

Hi all,

I'm not sure if anyone will be able to help, but I'm looking for a copy of the plans for the 'Electron' speedboat that were featured in either 'Radio Controlled Model Boats' or Radio Controlled Boat Modeller (can't remember which now). I think the magazine must have been published about 20 years ago now, but I do remember it having a pink front cover. The boat was all balsa construction, and ithe one that was built in the magazine just had a simple on/off speed control.
I successfully built this boat when I was about 15 and would like to build another one.
If anyone can give any help or advice as to where I could get these plans then that would be great.

Best regards,
Scott

Scott

Electron is on my build list, and I have plans (somewhere)
The original is for 2:1 geared 550 motor (thats speed 600 to youngsters)  and buggy pack of nicads; but WOULDN'T it move with 283012 brushless and lipos
(3S lipos would require brave pills)

As you say RCM&E in the 80s.  I will have a look tonight and see if the plan presents itselelf :}

The Mb one is very similar

Amazon still sell the book for about £8.00 , However I once tried to get it from them and twice they said they could not despite it showing as available.. In the end I got it from one of the Market Place sellers

These start at £0.24p + £2.80 Delivery...

Well worth the money

Other plans are
Arcady
Talisman
Knocker White
YSD
Bredette
Jenny Sue
Atch
Guardian
And last but not Least Electron..

Well I certainly didn't expect a response like that, thank you so much everyone for your help. I've ordered a copy of Glynn's book so hopefully will be able to start building again shortly!:)

Once again thank you all for pointing me in the right direction!
It's appreciated,
Best regards,
