Severn otherlandscoradio controlled
« on: January 18, 2011, 02:33:20 pm »

Have recently made enquiries about a Severn (otherlands co plastic model) on ebay which requires attention to motors etc - has anyone knowledge of the practicality of working on such a model and to whether one can possibly re engine the model - It seems as though this model was commissioned sometime ago and is now not available -  the RNLI received a small donation on each sale - I think it probable started life in china !! Hi Stuart, if you are talking about the small Severn model that was sold by the RNLI then the answer is yes you can re-motor/refit/rebuild them without too much difficulty. I am even changing one of mine into an Arun!

It is tackled in the same way that people upgraded the small work boats.

Hi Mike - many thanks for the information - you seem to have done a fantastic job - I have also now found other posts relating to the same topic so I may be encouraged to have a go - SWMBO has however insisted that I reduce my fleet !! so I may have to hide this purchase away somewhere if successful !!  very grateful for your advice and I shall be trawling MBM for all the info I can get  regards Stuart
