whats stopping you from building a new hull , using the dimensions from your existing hull but with the inclusion of a vee bottom ?  if you need it drawig first , i can redraw but will need its length , beam and at least a height from the deck to chine rail , have you any idea what the draght was too ?

Ben,
One of the joys of refurbishing, you never quite know what you will find.

ben its possible to work that out , and would make a more stable model than the flat bottom its currently wearing ! ive found some dimensions of 121ft  l o a 25ft 6 inch beam with a draght of 6ft10 inches  the vessel also has a round bilge . i would therefore sugest a scale of 1/48th to make it into a managable size ?

at 1/12 th scale your model would be 121inches long ! if you made it at 1/48th scale the finished model would be 30 and a quarter inches long , hence be more managable , given the fact that you often go to the lake on your own , you could carry the model without the need for somebody to take you / collect you again ! hence most of the models i operate are to a size i can safely transport on a bike ! !

then you need to think about making a new hull for it rather than adding extra weight along a repaired side section ? are you able to follow a half model sized drawing ?

i have got a plan for 1/48th HMS bold pursuer i have hammered quite literally both sides off and am going to plank on frame cross bread with bulkheads and normal layout but the v hull will have plank on frame then an inner del with motor and electronics on and then an upper deck open to the world with details

having looked at bold pathfinder on the net yesterday she was of round bilge construction so not quite a full vee bottom section , however what are you left with now you have hammered both side from your hull , i should imagine just a few bulkheads , the deck and its flat bottom plank ?

Ben just for your info the Bold boats Pathfinder and Pioneer were both different - Pathfinder as has been said was a round bilge hull
Pioneer had a hard chine hull and they were used for comparison tests prior to the Brave boats being designed. Both were fitted with
Metro-vickers Gas turbines and Pathfinder was originally fitted with two Mercedes Benz diesel engines from a wartime German E boat
but was later fitted with Napier Deltic diesels.

Jon as far as I can find out there were only two both built by VT and there were no Dark class boats
named pursuer  - only Pursuer was an attack class escort carrier in WWII

My warships books concur that Bold Pathfinder's sister was Bold Pioneer, these were the only two boats built, there is no record of a Bold Pursuer that I have. My main source is H T Lenton, British Warships dated 1962. By this time Bold Pioneer had already been scrapped, but Bold Pathfinder was still going.

The ship was never built, I'm Not sure if it was just a Name for one of the design ships which never got built or just a name given to the Plan supplied in the January  2009 MMI mag. based on the 2 built, I did read the article but can not remember what it said..  :-))
