I think Neil has said you are going to build this as 002, rather than 001, however if you are sticking with 001 as the end product then for authenticity you need to alter the rake of the bulwarks at the stem and stern. If you are doing it as 002 then you need to remove the rubbing band on the hull. Also neither 001 nor 002 had the recessed side anchors, both had deck mounted side anchors of the fisherman pattern, and a single admiralty pattern anchor in the stem hawse pipe.
For both Neil and you, there are no rivets at the join between the upper steering bridge and the wheelhouse roof. The reason for the rivetted joint around the bottom of the deckhouse is that there is a steel upstand welded to, and about 10" off the deck. The aluminium superstructure is rivetted to this with a jointing compound in between to stop corrosion. The upper steering bridge is simply welded to the deckhouse roof, aluminium to aluminium.
I know, I don't get out enough!

With all due respect Iain what I am trying to achieve here amongst working 11 hour days at present is to produce a Clyde looking lifeboat in time for the Loch Ness run to raise as much money for the RNLI, this obviously is a monster task as it is...

Thanks

It was only a minor issue which raised a few light hearted comments, I just like to remind Russ about it every now and then, Dave.  O0

Ok lets gets this thread back on track, progress on the Clyde is good, perspex skegs were fitted to the hull after the slots were jigsawed out, these protude on the inside of the hull so as to get a good solid fibre glass skin over them for solidness, A-frames were made and silver soldered and everything lined up and fixed, this boat will be made as 70-001 so the port and starboard anchor recesses were filled in, first coats of primer applied to the hull and a couple of coats of orange to the superstructure...

This is one I haven't tried, Ford Signal Orange with a subtle hint of a satin white mixed......looks slightly duller than the modern boats, looking at various pics it looks a fairly good match .   :-))
