A good day at the auction
« on: February 06, 2011, 08:34:28 am »

Yesterday I picked up at an auction

HMS Cavalier Fleetscale hull and fittings, plans and two albums of photographs £35.40 (list £ 387)

Caldercraft Schaarhorn, part built (not very well) + three brand new plans £29.50  (list £296 )

Best of all was side paddle steam engine with twin opposed at 45 degrees single cylinders with steam chest between
+ shut off valve. The self feathering paddle wheels are 6'' (150mm) dia. The whole thing is 13'' (330mm) across.
The wheels are aluminium with eight paddles, the whole thing mounted on brass frame. That set me back £153.
Hand made it is an absolute beauty. Just happens to be the pefect size for the Forceful paddle tug, and I have the plans.
