this is my new craft its a 1/10 scale Griffon 2000 mk3 brushless motors for lift and thrust

Very nice Tim, I would like to build one, can you give me some idea what motors, ESCs and where you bought them from, also did you make the skirt and if so did you glue or stitch it. And finally roughly how much would it cost to build a scratch built one?.

hi tim.....are these the same griffon h/c's that the RNLI use for their lifeboat.......if so where would you get plans to build from.

no these are not the Craft the RNLI use they use these http://www.rnlisunderland.org/photographs/rnli/pg76ph190.html i could be possible to get plans from Griffon hoverwork but they may not copy them for you.Motors for the above craft are Lift motor out runner AXI Goldline 2808/16 KV 1820 these are not cheap and what would suggest is you have a look aorund seaching for the KV1820 and see what you can get that suits your buget the thrust motor is a Fusion out runner 353505 1500kv
 these are much cheaper but the model will run on brushed motors just as well but brushless is better out runners are required these have more touque where as in runners are for speed, speed controllers you will need one forward only for lift about 70 amp and one forward and reverse for thrust again about 70 amp the motors will not pull 70 amp but this way the ESCs never get hot ,apart from the AXI motor they were all got from my local model shop (Leeds) I did not make the skirt my aunite did shes a seemstress and has been for 40 years but i you dont have anyone like this then you can send the plans to http://www.modelhovercraft.co.uk/ ang he will stich it for you for a small fee as for cost you can make the hull duct and cabin for £70ish all from thin ply on balsa framework then theres motors and ESCs on top the plans a free from http://www.model-hovercraft.com/2000tdx/2000tdx.html have a look at http://www.modelhover.org/

With the craft been modern the company tend not to be keen on copying plans when i got the plans for my Griffon i had to get permission from the owners of the craft and i had to pick them up from Griffon hoverwork but the hull for the griffon is standerd its only the cabin thats diferent on each craft MK3s are longer so if you are doing a scale model its worth getting the origonal plans to check the lenght and layout

Hi Tim,
Hope your doing good, the new hovercraft looks great!!
I have not been down to the pond much at all, only had chance once about 3 weeks ago, but should be down in two or 3 weeks.
I will try and bring that hovercraft down that we talked about and give it a go with a decent battery if thats ok.

That's one gorgeous model. She is beautifully finished and detailed. Well done!

The Griffon 2000 was my second model (I have a thread here, perhaps you may have come across it) and at this moment, I am building the Griffon 8000 in an approximate 1:20 Scale. Unfortunately, we weren't allowed to add scale detailing to the model as it was intended for very rough use and for training people with zero experience of handling RC Models.

Looking at your motor configuration, I understand that my craft was hugely over powered with a 4400Kv lifter and a 2900Kv Thruster. AUW was just about 3.5 Kgs.

I would welcome your comments on my build.
