Straight running
« on: March 04, 2011, 12:41:18 pm »

I've not made a model for a while (46 years) so I thought I'd start with an unfinished project.  I like the weird and wonderful and bought what turned out to be a straight runner.  It is 26" long,  4" wide,  made of steel and weighs 3 lbs.  It has a prop & rudder but no engine.  There is a flat brass plate across the width of the boat for an engine mount.  The boat looks as if it has some age and there are various qualities of work as if several people have had a go at it.  Any recommendations as to what I should power it with?  I want the power plant to be in keeping with the age of the boat without making life too difficult for myself.  Any suggestions?

Hi paulb.   PM  SteamboatPhil.  He is our resident straight running expert.
He should be able to advise you and might even recognize your boat.

Look at the end of the Forum home page, and you will see Members, Click o that then on Search for Member, type Steam and Phil's details will come up top of the list. Click on that to get his detail record, and you will find a linlk t send him a PM. Alternatively, search for  a post by him in. You will see both an eMail and IM icon under his name.
