another noobie is in the house
« on: March 12, 2011, 08:08:40 pm »

hi all, thought i'd introduce myself

I am Karl, i live in Norwich, i am surrounded by water and i dont have a boat to play on it with - at least not yet.

i am new to working model boats,, i do have one but i managed to spin the shaft along with the sleeving straight out of the bottom of the boat when the 2 ends clamped onto it so its never really gone anywhere and then add to that i have a engine which refuses to run

i am more at home with cars (real ones) and computers (its what i do) and fast electric cars (its what i USED to do) than i am with boats but i am throwing caution to the winds and dropping myself in at the deep end as i have a project in mind

nice to be here and hopefully i'll see some of you around

K.

Welcome aboard Karl !

...  I guessing your first boat is going to be a fast one!    Any you've seen that you like?

hello there Karl!  I guess you could put me in the same boat as you.......except I've done plastic most of my life.  about a year ago, I had given to me an already started wood kit that a friend of mine gave up on.......and that started my introduction to wood.  I have one under my belt now, a static build of an "advanced beginner's kit".....and it came out very well {now I have to go back to the first kit, and repair my mistakes}.  I would suggest starting off with a static build for you, but I guess it really wouldn't matter.  there are just as many pratfalls in an R/C, as if you did it the other way.  good luck with whatever you choose........just go slow....it's not a race, and enjoy!
