you have a problem if it takes so long to heat up , is there a reason you did not use the supplied insulation? as it normally takes about 7 min to heat up , I would remove the V70 it does not need it and it does not seem to work properly, Brian from MHB never used one and the boat is very sensitive to weight changes also the reason why the condenser tank is full is because the boiler is not getting up to pressure and you are using wet steam to start with, nice build so far, must get moving on mine and post some pictures.

Good morning!
Nice weather for sailing!........................ I'll go right after walking the dog! O0
JJS, I think that your problem is coming from the regulator which does not allow enough gas to pass thru. The informations that you give (& I agree w/ HS93) it takes too long to built up pressure & your running time is also too long. You built up temp & pressure , but too slow. You should deliver more heat in a shorter period of time.
I have the feeling that your run with regulator closed and the gas is passing thru the safety orifice. (I don't know the name). Which allows the burner to go on slowly.
You probabbly need to do another test and check on your flare. You should hear a strong blow. And , if you did not touch the calibration of it, the flare should almost die when the pressure reaches 30psi.
You say, your V70 "coupe gas" is set @ 40 psi and your working pressure is +/- 20 psi. So your gas should not reach the regulator. If it does, there is something wrong.
Anton regulators do not really regulate, but cut off the main gas port when the pressure is reached and allow a weak leak to maintain the burner going on.
Now if, your regulator is set low and the "leak port" is opened too much, it means that your regualtor is not doing the job. Most of the gas is coming out the wrong way.
I suggest that you try again with the knob of the regulator , completly screwed in . When the pressure reaches 30 psi, you unscrew it, until you hear the flare almost diying.
If the flare remains strong or still strong, you then have to tight the small screw on the regulator's side untill it allows a small flare for the burner too stay burning.
Remember also that if your V70 is set higher than the regualtor pressure is set, it will not work. You must set this coupe gas at +/- 10 psi. This is enough for the safety of the boiler.
If you have any problem, we can go step by step on MP. I understand that the longer I am in my explanations, and the more confusing i am.  %%
No sorrows, it will work. ok2
Have a good day! :-)

Thanks for advice KBIO and AS93. It is indeed a very good day for sailing. I tend to build boat models which work well but i never sail them. My last finished typhoon mahogany triple cockpit runabout from  Dumas never touched water!! I have to find a good pond here in Brussels  ;)
I will do some testing today on the burner when it is not placed in the boiler. By the way the boiler is insulated with the standard material delivered with the kit and i have put the planking over it (some left overs from my Typhoon model); looks much nicer, even if it eventually covered by the boiler house

Keep you posted on running results

Regards

JJS ....some good points here  O0...

....as HS93 may be eluding to is..... if the boiler water level was initially too high...you may be priming or drawing water instead of steam

...also as KBIO suggests some form of setting error with your V70......... >>:-(

Have you installed a boiler water pressure pilot isolation valve? [between the boiler & the V70]........your V70 without pilot pressure should ensure that full gas flow is permitted & hence would minimise the boil up time
I cannot see, but do you have a pressure gauge on the gas side to confirm you have a full gas charge?
I have seen of a few of the French WEB sites......where identical pressure gauges were installed on both sides of an ANTON V71 for this purpose & also literally see what is happening
These regulators may sound simple & some may initially think that pressure will remain constant...& only the flow will reduce  <*< ...this is not correct as we also experience pressure drop through an oriface...so ultimately this discharge side of your V70 will provide both reduced flow and reduced pressure to the burner 8)
Have you checked with MH&B...on the procedure for positioning the boiler burner for setting/optimization of oxygen draw?

I do understand installing the isolation valve is more expensive than two unions & a short tube spool piece to replave the V70 & V72 for test..... %% ...but that may only prove yor boiler is OK
....but will not let you experiement with the GAS + WATER + HEAT mix ...I also understand gas  is clear...but we must see it ....

I am sure in time you will resolve this.... :-)) Derek

Some work done on my Seekadett. I am happy to have the link with photo,s to the Spanish model builder site , because building instructions from MH &B give limited explanations
