HAVE I JOINED THE CORRECT FORUM ?

Hello to you all.
I am a new boy, a member for two days.
I posted a topic in the steam section on joining ref a Marklin Steamboat sold on ebay, item no 190530805949, as I did not recognise it, and would like to construct a replica.
To date there has been no response.
I am interested in the older type models like this, and am currently making a Hobbies kit with steam power, using an SEL engine and a copper boiler of my own making. The next project is a hobbies times two, ie twice the size.
I am wondering if there is any interest in this type of older model on this forum?
I trust I will not offend anyone by asking.
Thank you.
Stuart

Hello there. welcome to the forum. Sometimes it takes a while to get a reply because it's easy to miss a post or someone is doing some research before replying. Hang in there you are definitely in the right place.

that's junk imho. a useless Marklin boiler and an engine in a very primative home made hull. not worth the money.

I think the reason your struggling to find answers to your question is simply no one knows anything about it as is the way with many vintage boats, i myself recently bought a 1960's cruiser and the only info i really have is the advert that came with the boat when it was originally made, Now it could be either no one knows or those that those who do may be of and age where they no longer do the hobby or sadly lost along with there knowledge.

However there may be hope yet...

Now i have no clue about this boat , I've been googling at it for a few hours now and no luck.. but the closet i got to something that resembles the hulls shape is the Bluebird of Chelsea, the hull is of the right shape, however its not steam driven...

There have been in the past many many steam launches and Steam driven 'Gentleman yacht' which at the time would have had a steam engine, i have a feeling it is most likely a gentleman yacht based off the Bluebirds hull,(it was popular during the period) this would have a large forward cabin , engine exposed mid ship with possible a canopy over the boiler, and a rear cabin or open deck aft with seating.
Have a look at the photo's of the bluebird and Mimosa & compare the hull for yourself, you may be able to construct the hull from her plans and a cabin section from images of other launches, or a modification of the bluebirds cabin mid ship.

That's the best i can do to help you get somewhere. Even if its not right the bluebird is a beautiful model built, and wouldn't be a waste of time constructing one.

Use a bit more imagination and it could almost be the QE2  {-)

Thanks for all the comments for which I  am grateful.  I obviously would have bought a pup.

My second posting entitled HAVE I JOINED THE RIGHT FORUM  has been moved from the MODEL BOATING SECTION, and is now in STEAM with this one. Not sure who did it or why, it just happened and no message of explanation.

Just tried to report it using the  REPORT TO MODERATOR box and got a message YOU CANNOT REPORT Y0UR OWN POSTING, IT DOES NOT MAKE SENSE.

So now idea of who to contact or how to contact them.

Confused.

Forum Admin would have moved it to the right section your topic falls under.. it keeps the forum tidy. Admin don't need to tell you if they moved a post, since it usually says 'moved to' in the original thread. No big deal about it, most of us who are lazy just post in in the 'model boating' section and let admin move the posts later...

Thank you Roadrunner. The original thread just disappeared, with no moved to showing.

I think I need to start again with a new topic in steam and try and get it right this time.
