don't peal off all the backing in one hit usualy help's

Method that's worked well for me in the past is the peal the back a tiny bit and apply the decal, this allows for earlie adjustment so its where you want it, once your sure its right slowly peel the backing off as you slide the decal on, the best way to avoid bubbles is to use a flat edge on the surface as you peel the backing off, try your credit card!

If you do get bubbles you can eliminate them by using a flat edge and drawing them out to the edge, or use a pin and pop the bubble and push it flat, if you have had bubbles i would sugest a lacquer coat to harden the decal stop it peeling back later on once the stickyness starts to age.

If there water slide transfers you can either put them on in a bowl of water so you can position with your finger or a pair of tweezers or do the same out of water just dripping bits on as you need it, dry off with a paper towel, dabbing not wiping.

Spray water onto the surface containing a drop of washing up liquid, this allows you to position the self adhesive vinyl when you squeegee it down it expells water and adhesive bonds to surface.

Thanks, I didn't know that you could float the self adhesive decals on...I thought it might damage the adhesive :((

I use same principal and works for me too.

But LEAVE the area alone for at least 24 - 30 hours to allow the backing glue to fully dry out and stick.  I would not recommend putting the boat in to water for a week either, "just in case", but it definately give a better finish to the decals and allows you to get all the air bubbles out easily. Dont try sticking a needle in them, and rubbing them out as this also lets water in behind the decal once in the water!

apply soapy water onto the area that you are putting the decals on , remove a small section of the backing first and apply to the hull tack in place with a little masking tape at the edge , gently remove the backing as you press the decal onto the surface . when the backing has been removed any bubbles can be removed with the edge of a filler type spreader  ( or old credit card )  this is how the trade apply this type of decal !
