do you have to run new batts in, im thinking nimh now not nicads, if its a case of charge then discharge a few times whats the lowest i should take a 7.2 volt 5000mah pack to

Ni-Mh take a few cycles to reach full capacity, just use them as normal and enjoy ther longer runtimes after those first few cycles :-))
they dont care about being discharged to a low voltage, as soon as the boat shows a big drop in performance bring it in.
