Aldi are having a clamp even this Sunday :} :-))

http://www.aldi.co.uk/uk/html/offers/offers_week23Sunday11.htm

At times you can't have too many clamps, I've some small G clamps (metal) I use the most, as well as box full of the plastic  spring ones, of various sizes.

the spring clamps/pegs are great, but the ratchet ones are next to useless....you can't get enough pressure on them, especially if you have arthritis in your wrists,. and if you try, the plastic ratchets snap......... i bought a set of six from aldi, and one is left intact which i don't use anymore...that was just over a year ago............the spring clamps i bought on the local market as a pack of 24 varois sizes, and have yet to break a single one..two years on.

Masking tape is my favourite clamping system - cheap, versatile and easy to use - but its only single use!

Very limited to the jobs that can be held down

rubber bands of various sizes are always uesful too
No good for clamping gunwales etc

Ok but not enough throat size.

I saw the one's in Aldi yesterday and would have bought some more as I use them all the time, but as I have two sets already the box is full up.

Highly recommended as the large ones will break your fingers.    %)  Terrific pressure for the edge of the boat and deep as well to cover clamping wood.

Blimey you ask for help....
I'm sure others are probably more restrained.... but come on,,, your opening retort -
''use these allready but have low pressure ...''

If you made your joint well do you need high pressure .... Perhaps it is your workmanship you should question..

Don't start me on the rest....

I use miniature pressuer clamps that are also spreaders about 4 inches in length.

http://www.anticsonline.co.uk/447_1_16924.html

also some normal minature clamps

http://www.anticsonline.co.uk/447_1_1246255.html

A selection of G clamps, rubber bands tape some superglue if i want to tack a joint in place sometimes. All these clamps and methods work well for particular jobs some better then others it just comes down to the parts you want clamped will depend on what type of clamp will do the job best.

Example is when i glued in the deck support frames on the Komet used the mini clamps to hold the strip in place while the glue set, then when i put in the cross members i had to use the pressure clamp and tape to hold it in place as the hull needed pulling in as it was out of shape, the mini clamps wouldn't have held the joint the pressure clamp would i just added the tape in case the clamp slipped.

When i glue the deck down finally i will use tape, rubber bands and a ton of LA batterys!

Pretty much everyone uses tape to hold shafts in place when gluing them in place and if using masking tape it sticks to everything, I've yet to find a material ( apart from Teflon  but we don't model with that normally) it won't stick too!

Holding planks to frames has nothing to do with well fitting joints more to do with the strength of the clamp acting against the spring of the plank.

I might see if our local Aldi has those clamps in i have the cheap market ones which work fine more can't hurt

Like i say workmanship ... If you had clamped & steamed the plank you wouldn't need high pressure to make the joint.

Rubber bands, as mentioned earlier, might help. But you rubbished them for another reason?

Try the things that are produced for the Dolls House market. Titchy little spring loaded clothes pegs. Made of wood. Magic for small jobs. Only about 1" long and 1/8" wide. Very strong. Come in packs of multitudes for a few pence. BY.
