Maxwell Hemmens Canton
« on: March 30, 2011, 03:07:14 pm »

 :-) :-) :-) :-)
Hi    ---   just purchased The Canton  -- a Maxwell Hemmens twin 3/8marine engine and boiler  --  repaired the steam feed
pipe to the engine and then fired her up and she ran like the proverbial Sewing Machine with no problems .The next step was to
pressure test the boiler and here`s the problem I can`t  determine what the threads for the safety valve or steam outlet were,
could any Canton user`s tell me what they are and where I might purchase some blanks to adapt for pressure testing, any hints on
running this plant would be more than welcome.
                        thanks in advance

Hi, Max Hemmens Caton engine threads, are just slightly smaller that to days std of 1/4 by 40 tpi, don't try and force a todays std union nut, or you will srip the threads,!!!
however I do have a caton steam valve with one union, that is available , if you want it, ( no charge) for a member , Roy: roy.burton1@ntlworld.com.
