OK got the bug for a springer, so during the Alford show and bugging my brother to buy me one over the day he caved in and got me one thanks bro.So with a springer hull from Macs mouldings as a base to start with on with the build. The first thing to do was to make the keel for the prop shaft

don't no if it just me but this was the easiest keel and prop shaft clue up i have done. as a matter of interest the tug will be based upon one of these

up next was the nudge bars

well that's it no going back now

Good choices of prototypes, keep the build pics coming. I like the green one with the triangular boom/crane structure.

OK day two of the big builds Deck supports and the start of the rudder make up

with this done up next will be the motor and battery trays up next to be built, power for this tug will be the graupner 600 motor running on 12v

don't no how i did this after only having a few hours sleep after 24hours of motor racing but ha needs must. the next thing to do was the battery trays, these were positioned twowards the back of the hull to give the tug a nose up stance when at rest and help with the nose dive when running ?

with the trays done then came the steering servo mount

when the motor is clued in then i can position the radio gear and sound unit

well thats it for today need sleep as a bit of a tease here's some pics of Biro's springer

with the internall parts in and clued time to start on the upper works. up first the base and the tower for the bridge with bridge supports

up next the bridge

that's it for today but before i go just a few pics of the boat so far

not sure about the nudge bars i think i will make them bigger

They look just about right and in proportion. What you could do is cover them with a rippled rubber. This will fatten them up and be great for pushing with.

I had to extend my

PUSH KNEES

about 2 or 3 inches below the water line, because everything I tried to push would roll under the boat. Water polo balls, sticks whatever.

Hi there, looking good. It's a Models By Design hull isn't it?? Keep up the good work, I fancy buiding another springer but a WAY overpowered one with loads of grunt... Dave.

hi six yes it is a model by design hull not a mac's mouldens like i said at the beginning. any way back to the build started to detail the bridge with window frames and some inside detail

to help with the scale look of this build some more detail was needed so to this end a hole was cut out to represent the accesses to the engine room in the bridge tower this will be detailed up some more with tubes and some odds and ends

the next thing to make is the steps for the bridge

OK with two BBQ under one's belt not much moderling has gone on over last two days,and with a weeks Holiday coming up not much this week ether.started on the roof for the bridge and made one set of steps on the side of the bottom structure and also started to detail in side of the tower no pics of this as it was hard to focus the camera on the detail in this area as it is all white, but some pics of the rest of the work done today

like i said not much done today but at least some thing was done
