Club 500 FINISHED!
« on: June 18, 2011, 08:03:38 pm »

Model Slipway are no longer selling the Club 500. What about all those 1000's that already race them and all those newbies who want to?

Its not so bad as i thought. They are prepared to sell moulds etc. This depending on price could be an
oppertunity for someone to start a home industry. Or as an add on fpr someone making hulls already. The big
if, is price and sales. Lets hope someone will take this on. John.

it's almost certainly an economic decision that it was no longer viable for them to keep selling it,

or rather to have block numbers of screen prints done for the various numbers and parts in the minimum quantaties that the printer needs to set up a process.....and that would be.................because insufficient numbers were being sold to make up the orders.

and it would probably be the same should someone buy the tooling.

if the market isn't there then it just isn't there, no matter who owns the tooling.

people don't sell the tooling to a product if it's profitable to hang on to it.

Hi guys

Club 500 is manufactured from two large vac-form tools - no screen printing, no plastic printing no die-cutting - simply vacuum forming with little effort. The only printing required is for the set of instructions and the vinyl windows. It is a good little earner, and there is still a demand for this kit in the UK and Germany.

Lawrie and I have gone into semi-retirement. We have moved the business back to Arundell Drive where we started 22 years ago; unfortunately we don't have enough space for the large 3-phase vac-former to manufacture Club 500. This is the reason the moulds are for sale, with or without the vac-former (which will be broken for parts if it can't be sold).

The range of kits on our website is still available, however delivery times may be a little longer, we don't have the capacity anymore.

Please note the advert in the July issue of Model Boats magazine should be ignored!!   a 2010 advert was used by the magazine and our address and phone number have changed.

Thanks guys for your interest in our models.
Jackie and Lawrie

You both cant't retire just yet surely.
So many models, so little time.
How will you put up with Lawrie all day without his playing with developing more kits?
You BOTH look too young to retire.

Don't worry about me putting up with Lawrie all day, Bob,  I have managed OK for the last 30 years, another ONE  won't hurt !!  {-)

Now that he doesn't have his motorbikes to play with I don't think it will be long before development resumes...

The moulds, vac-former and manufacturing rights to the Club 500 kit have been provisionally sold. An announcement will be made in due course.

Good luck with the semi retirement.  Just finally finished my Conserver after long storage and other diversions but another quaility kit even though its discontinued.  Whenever I had a slight problem you were both, and more so Jackie, always able to help even when I misplaced bits!!!
