Bangs, Flashes, Wind and Rain at Canoe Lake.
« on: June 21, 2011, 06:51:39 pm »

Portsmouth Model Boat Display Team had their first outing to Canoe Lake in Southsea last Sunday, this is a taster of what we got up to..

Robbie says 'Hi!'.

My other boat is big enough to be buried in!! Leave me alone....

The three battleships were moored over the sandbank, to stop us silly sailing boat and manned model operators running aground.

A bit of filming..

HMS Victory being carried to the waters edge and Redoutable being loaded with extra ballast.

While being filmed...

HMS Victory, sails furled and ready for action..

HMS Victory heading for the water, notice the keel weight, a scaffold pole, full of lead.

Keel weight on and ready for action...

Square riggers and 20 Knot winds dont mix, it died down a bit, but not before...

PANIC!!!!

Panic over, hardly any sail up, took four people to lift her and still knocked over.

Safety Officers at work on a Pyro equipped model.

HMS Victory being reefed, further..

Redoutable, proudly sailing by.

HMS Victory, triumphant...as it should be :-)

We join our convoy today as it proceeds slowly towards Liverpool...

A fairly tight convoy formed up as the wind died down slightly and the sun peeked through the clouds, what a fine setting for....

TORPEDO IN THE WATER....

A U Boat is loose within the convoy, the escorts lay smoke and proceed with their depth charge attack..

The threat has been dealt with, all that remains is recovery..

Now for the big boys to play.....

Out to sea with the first of the ships.

SMS Schleiswig Holstein, Pre-Dreadnought Battleship..

HMS Canopus, Pre-Dreadnought Battleship.

Two iron and steel warships, battle will be met, today...

Engines knocked out, surrender the only option...

Surrender terms to be discussed...

All's well that ends well :-))
