Yet another Tamar query
« on: July 05, 2011, 08:30:08 am »

I expect it's my screw-up as usual!!!!!  But.....

Re SA63, the forward deck lockers on the cabin.

The Spreadsheet parts list calls out parts on Stainless Steel 0.3 , brass 0.3 , and perspex 3.0

There are two lockers, one port and one starboard side.

There is only one hinge on the stainless steel sheet, nothing on the brass sheets, and only one locker front on the perspex sheet

Any advice????

Ken,
There is a photo here of the Tenby Tamar which shows that there may only be a starboard forward deck locker,

There are 2 forward lockers as clearly seen in some of the photographs of the Tenby Lifeboat on the Model Slipway site.

I think the locker Ken is talking about, part SA63, is the one on the vertical surface, starboard side below the top edge locker (with the handles).

There is only one on the starboard side, there is nothing on the port side.

Correct, Chris.  The vertical Tool Lockers were the ones listed as SA63.

Adrians drawings showed one on each side.

I'll just make up one now for the Padstow lifeboat.

Did you find any brass bits as called out on Adrians parts spreadsheet?

Ken,
No, I can't find the brass parts for SA63 either even though they are listed, only the lovely stainless hinge.

Adrian....help us out here!  :-)

Hello folks
Yes there is only one and it is on the starboard side. Sorry, error on the drawing. the locker has no brass components just the stainless hinge. (Spreadsheet corrected thanks).
Also, I have in production, the recovery hook for the Transom. It will be around two weeks so please email me offi-site with your name and address and I'll post you one when the arrive. They comprise a perspex block with an etched brass cover with the hooks arranged so that they are inserted from the back and bolted onto the transom. This enables the model to be recovered using it. Strong
Also......I have done some new depth markings and the same applies to those. They are finer and look much better.  :-))
Also...............The RNLI have changed the mast on the Tamar, strengthening it by adding bracing bars across the corners. %%
I'll post a photo later when I have figured out how to do it.  %%
