Has anyone got any experience with the Spectrum 2.4Ghtz R/C?

I am looking at splashing out on a new radio and thinking of trying to "future proof" my purchase I am looking at 2.4Ghtz.

My local supplier has limited knowledge of this being used in boats as it is mainly used for aircraft.

So before I spend any of the wifes hard earned housekeeping I had better get my facts straight.
