Invisible drive for the Radar on an AZIZ?
« on: March 05, 2007, 05:44:00 pm »

...via an email to Mayhem.

Anyone got a good idea how to make invisible drive for the Radar on an AZIZ?
( I don't want a rod going down through the deck. )

Hi, I did think of trying this on capt jacks aziz  but settled for the rod through the deckhead.

With the use oF an old bicycle brake cable I did think of running it up the side of one funnel and then with gentle bends through the bottom of the radar post, It would have to go through the  radar platform at a slight angle to be able to run down the funnel casing. as I said I did not get to try this as time would not allow but I did think I had a good chance of getting it to work.

have a look at hunter systems, they have a tiny motor 13mm x 4mm to run on 3 to 6 volts which might fill the bill, it might run slowly on 1.5 volts

Hello,
Inside a Mobile Phone that "vibrates", when a call is received is the smallest motor I have ever seen!.
Seen them on sale at Computer Fairs, no idea which Phone they were made for, but they are VERY small !!.
Just an Idea !!!!!!!!.

These guys sell a tiny pager motor with a planetary gearbox-

http://www.solarbotics.com/products/index.php?scdfa-250100084-viewDetail-productzq3945zq4categoryzq37=true&frm=sbfi

RPM is 1200. You can slow it down further using a rubber friction wheel reduction, if required.

Didel are also good for small motors and other paraphernalia

The smallest  motors available I have seen are out of 6mm dia, some available with gearbox and reduction down to 1:1200... It`s worth a look anyway.
