Sheerline Ohio
« on: August 01, 2011, 01:53:41 pm »

Hi guys.
I`ve got the chance of aquiring a Sheerline Ohio class  submarine, the only problem is, I`m a rank amature when it comes to submarines {:-{
Do you think this would be a suitable project for a beginner?
The sub is ready built and apparently running, but I  don`t know this for certain.
Any advice would be most grateful.

Its hard to get much simpler than one of the Sheerline nuke boats. If you say its nearly running than your pretty much already there. You may have to do a bit of trimming with lead, but that goes for just about any sub you buy. They work pretty well, as do all Sheerline boats.

A big boat but being Sheerline extremely reliable. You can't really go wrong with any of Chris's models - and he's always very helpful if you do run into problems. I've had a Trafalgar for years and it never fails me unless I do something stupid. As Mankster says it may require some trimming to run at it's best and I also use an automatic leveller. If you do goa ahead you won't be disappointed. Just remember to bring it to the Edinburgh SubDay in 2012 - we didn't have an Ohio this year.

Thanks guy`s,
 I`ve  heard that Sheerline boats are superb, but being a complete plank as far as subs are concerned, I did`nt know if I was trying to run before I could crawl.
I think I`m going to go with it, I already know there are some very experienced modellers on here who are free with very good advice if I get stuck (which, knowing me, I will %))
I`ll be glad to bring it along to the 2012 sub day, I could`nt make this years show due to an important committee meeting at Glasgow Richmond last weekend...sorry!

Thanks very much for your input guy`s, it`s very much appreciated.

Neo, you are right. You are a plank! But one of the best planks aRound. I take it this sub will be crewed by an  all hagis crew! Good luck in new venture, I am starting down the same root. See you at mayhem next year, with some mead in tow, and a fried slice!
