Author Topic: Is it possible to edit an already submitted posting in this forum?  (Read 2685 times)

Hi,

I'm new to Mayhem.
But I already submitted two postings and was missing a button that would let one edit an already submitted post for corrections,
a functionality that I know from other forums.

I discovered the modify button but as it seems it didn't allow me to edit the body of the posting but only apply some artistic features regarding the appearance.

As a non-native English speaker I would appreciate an edit feature because I think that I am more susceptible to typos or worse even semantic or grammatical mistakes which I would like to correct a posteriori when discovered.

Your post can be modified for half an hour after posting to correct errors or incorporate amendments. After that you will need to make a supplementary post or ask a moderator to edit your original post.

The reason for this is that it was found that some people were editing their original posts following responses to them which caused some confusion at best and was a bit underhand at worst.

Hello Colin,

thanks for the clarification.

Another question. Not sure if I should open a new thread for this one?

I notice you have an avatar icon stuck to your nom de plume.
I also wanted to upload an appropiately resized image as my avatar but couldn't find such an option in my profile settings.
Could it be that for this feature to be anabled one is required to be promoted to a certain "rank" first?

Btw, just tested the modify and corrected the wording "load up" where I meant "upload".
And yes, it worked.
So I must have missed the half hour time gap for corrections last time.

Deadwood, if you go to your profile settings you should see, under the heading "Modify Profile", the words "Forum Profile Information". Click those words and you should see a page that gives you 3 choices one of which allows you to upload a picture of your own choosing. Click the "Choose File" button and browse to wherever you have a suitable photo on your computer. Then go to the bottom of the page and click "Change Profile".

I hope this helps.

As Arrow5 has said, your English is excellent.

Peter.

Hello all who replied,

I must have been blind.
Revisiting my profile I have now discovered the radio button which must be checked to upload an avatar image and issue other modifications to ones profile data.

Yes, my mother tongue is German.
