Newbie - Battery query please
« on: August 10, 2011, 09:44:27 pm »

Hi,

My son has just been given a Veesport 26 RC boat by a friend of the family.  Its pretty old, but after a little TLC, we have made it water tight, and it works really well.   We would like to obtain a 2nd battery to increase our run time, as our nearest usable lake is about half an hour away and we want to make a trip worthwhile!  Unfortunately, the battery it came with, although holding charge well and giving about 20+ minutes use, has no labels or details of its power rating.  Its about 5 inches long, 2 inches wide and has a rectangular 2 pin plug fitting.  The charger that came with it is rated at 7.5v - does this mean its a 7.5v battery?  Excuse thick questions as this is first RC boat we've had!

Could anyone confirm what battery we need to buy please, and how to we ensure its got the correct plug?

Thanks in advance!

another thing you can do is to get a field charger which will allow to to charge the battery at the lakeside from your car battery

hears one i got a while ago will charge anything from a 12v source

Thanks for replies

DickyD - yes its similar to the pic you posted.  Its plain white wrapped, and you can see the outline of 3 AA sized batteries down each side.  We are not blessed with many model shops locally, so I was hoping to order online (cheaper to I suspect).  Will post a photo asap.

gwa94 - thanks for the suggestion.  How long would one of these take to charge a battery?

It will be 7.2 volt you will require.

The more amps the longer the run time.

See if any in the links below will do.

If you find what you want Component shop is the best place to get them. They also do chargers.
