Fitting the tunnel in the coble tonight
« on: July 05, 2012, 06:59:20 pm »

No beer for me tonight guys (Normally i would as its one of the few nights during the week i have off)

I spent a few hours in the week finishing the tunnel and finding the dead centre of it ready to fit in the coble.

My plan of action:

I need to find the dead centre of the boat, so i can align the centre points up (on the tunnel and boat)

Finding the centre of the boat in my oppinion is far easier on the outside than inside so ive drawn a line, and my plan is to drill two holes through the hull (on the line). This will allow me to draw a line between both holes on the inside of the hull. To double check its right i was thinking of using a ruler from the centre points of the bow and steern and using a plumb bob to make sure it lines up with the line ive already drawn (if that makes sense).

Once im happy, i plan on sticking the tunnel down using resin and cutting the hull away until from the houtside until i reach the points the tunnel is attached with.

If this goes wrong im just going to set the thing on fire or something lol.

Any ways a question.

Will i need to gel coat the fibreglass or will paint seal it good enough?

Will report my progress, if you dont hear from me again its because its went pete tong.

Thanks Dave

Didnt get as much done as i hoped, mainly because im using caveman tools and what not but i did get the hull cut out, sanded and all marked up. The tunnel is ready to Stick in place 2moro.

Looking at the underside of the hull with the tunnel in its resting place looks quite good even if i do say so my self.

I will be updating my site with the build information and pictures over the weekend.
