My billings Mary Ann
« on: August 27, 2011, 08:36:23 pm »

Ok so started quite a while ago building my billings Mary Ann I'm looking at paint for her I want to use matt paint like a games workshop skull White because I want it to look like a proper fishing boat like it's just come back from a hard season and looks rough, but my father says I should use gloss paint on her because in them days that's how they were painted can anybody give me any input on this as it's driving me nuts discussing it with dad and hearing other people's point of views help I'm sick of hearing one day you may have more brains than me but you will never be wiser :s drives me nuts lol

Dear Rchammer,

Despite what your father says (and remember, Dads always know best) a strange thing about models is that to represent gloss on the real boat, you need to use satin paint on your model, and to represent satin or matt, you need to use matt paint. To represent a seasoned boat as you do, I think matt paint would be best.

But remember, if you ask 5 model boaters a question, you will get 7 different answers!

best of luck!
