No, if you're using a BEC, you don't need batteries for any other servo that is connected to the receiver.

Dougal99 is quite right. As long as you have power in hand then you can run your RX off the main power supply. I'm just a bit old fashioned I guess! It's horses for courses really.

That has cleared up a problem that has been on my mind for a while. I was not sure if the BEC would run the rudder servo or not, also now knowing that I can save on weight with not having to put the Four AA's for the receiver in my PT Boat.
