Hi Neil,

If you have no clue as to what to power such a large cat with, I suggest you do your homework and make sure that you are aware of the costs involved.
Making a twin cat go (really) fast may add up to a thousand or two...

Regards, Jan.

Hi this is one of my 58" navaho hulls shes powered by twin himodel  outrunners on 6s lipo, each motor cost only $59 the esc are not expensive ones eiether,id say the whole setup cost arround the same price as a modded zenoah. Why not have a look over on offshoreelectrics and see what people are using on theres or similar size cats. Also i have a small cat mould similar to the mystic cats if your interested in one let me know shes 37" long.

Neil unless you have built a boat before i wouldnt even attempt a maxcat, its not a straight froward build cats are complicated. If you want to build your own hull from plans then id suggest the deep vee hull 48" long called the prowler.Or why not a kit such as the easy vee from zippkits its lazer cut and so easy to build and they run really great.

I know it will be difficult but i am joiner and no wood project can be hard for me see ppl do them who i know and does seem straight forward, yes there will be little ups and downs but that is what the forum of for to help ppl, i have thought about the prowler which i have the plans for just just prefair the cat to that really, i would say i like a challenge  and like to be thrown in at the deep end, If the build dont work it is only wood at the end of the day really

I am thinking more along the lines now of just a big single brushless etc till i get my head around the twin systems...

well i suppose the build of the boat itself depends on your crafting abilities, weather your scratching builidng either mono or cat the build is the easy bit. Its the drive systems and setting up that gets complicated. to power a cat like that crikey your gonna need sum big motors, if it was me id use:
2 of these :
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Leopard-4082-brushless-marine-motor-RC-boat-2000KV-/170690016240?pt=Radio_Control_Parts_Accessories&hash=item27bdeaf3f0

2 of these :

1 of these :

to charge the lipos youl need the balance charger. cant use  normal charger.  your gonna have to look at the hardware to thatl be another £140 lol

wish i had money like you for my boats !!

lol i cant help much really the size of this boat is unfathomable.  I wouldnt take my word for it on that list. itl need checkin buy someone, just my oppinion.
if your going down the single drive route you would need possibly a 60-70 mm prop. youl need a monster of a motor for that like 6050 1800kv outrunner or something.

this for example:

dont know if its fast enough tho
