A SAD LOSS
« on: March 15, 2007, 09:37:23 pm »

It is with great sadnes that I have to announce the death of a very dear freind and collegue of mine that I have worked with over the past several years. In the early hours of Sunday morning Mr Paul Beckley the former owner of Sirmar model ships passed away, Maggie his wife has asked me to post this on this site due to the overwhelming amount of emails we are receiving enquiering about Paul lately. The news was spread to the trade earlier this week and we thought it time to let everyone know who knew him over the years.

 I will miss him.

Sorry to hear such sad news.  Can I pass on the condolences of all members of Kirklees Model Boat Club who have had dealings with Paul over the years.

Paul was always a very lively character and willing to help modellers and will be sadly missed by modellers and fellow model traders.

I hope that Maggie will take some comfort from the condolences and kind words posted by members of the Forum. It is indeed a sad loss.

It is a VERY sad loss.
Over the years I got to know Paul a little.
I always liked him and you always knew where you stood with him.
I was actually wondering if I should contact Maggie to find out how he was doing.
Maggie has my deepest sympathy, and so does Ruth and the rest of his family.
Yes he will be sorely missed.

My condolencies to those left behind.

I only got to speak to Paul on two occasions and each time he was very helpful. May he rest in peace.

I'd like to pass on our condolences from the members of the Potteries Model Boat Club.

Paul supported our navy day event on many occasions, always with enthusiasm.

Our thoughts are with his family at this sad time.

Paul,

Will the family be having a collection in his memory? If so can you forward details.

What would be the feeling of the forum for a minutes silence for Paul Beckley at the Epic event in March on both Sat and Sun.

We had one to commemorate Rememberence Sunday at the Warwick Show.

This is only a suggestion on my part.

Hi All, someone asked if there would be a collection pot or something, the family has asked for donations to go to the local I.C.U unit, where he was being treated, I will get details if required and for flowers, it is only family flowers on the day.
The funeral is at 12:00 on Thursday 22nd March 2007 at Stourbridge Cremetorium.

We are going and I think many more will be if they can and pay their respects to a very important peice of our modelling world that has not quite fully gone, the knowledge lives on with with me and I am thankfull to a very good guide, trainer and my best freind in this game and I will never forget him.

Sorry guys I omitted to mention that, I think it would be very nice if all could do that at the Ellesmere show.
I suppose though, it may be asking a bit much, but, if people want to please let it be.

Hello Paul,

It was me who asked about donations. Which hospital do I send to?

Thanks

Hi Clive I will post the info when I know, you can imagine, that right at this moment, its not the highest of proirities and I don't want to put Maggie under any other pressure than she already is by her having to find out details of who exactly to make cheques etc payable to. I will let everyone who wants to do something like this know as soon as possible.

That's ok

I fully understand the range of emotions they feel right now. My dad passed away 7 years ago and my mother in law 2 years ago. Both were under 60.  :(
