I built a 1/6th scale Mersey Class lifeboat that was 2mtrs long! The motors were modified 12v wiper motors.

I used to look after the real ones for a spell when I was in the RN, they aint that big! As a model at that scale try a couple of medium Bhulers or maybe a couple of tripple 7s.

Bhulers is a electric motor manufacturer and the triple 7 is a motor available from model motors direct. I will try and find the address for MMD.

Sorry about the video clips not working for you, have a look at these pictures of it on the water.  ;) I am currently in the middle of building a 1/12th scale Tyne lifeboat (47-008 RNLB Phil Mead) complete with working boathouse and slipway as well as a complete rebuild of a 1/16th Trent (Model Slipway kit) for a friend.  ;)

         Hi BM,
I don't know whereabouts you live but there is an 'Archer Class' moored in the marina in Hull and is used by the Hull University Boat Squadron. Your not allowed on the jetties to get near it but it's near enough to the quayside to be able to take photo's.

I'm rapidly forming the opinion this might be quite a slow build. the drawings i have bear no relation to each other so I'm having to redraw most of them first  :(
Then all i have to do is interpret the drawings, which in parts seem to bear no resemblance to the actual boat!!!

What drawings are you using?  The marine modelling MAR2970, I know someone who has built a model from these plans and they said they where fine.
