Just looking through some old photo's on the pc and found this one taken when i wanted to sail but the car was not available.
the green thing on the trailer is my tow .
Has anyone done it a more unusual way?

I haven't tried a cycle trailer for model boating, but I did use to carry my 1/10 racing buggy kit (including a 12v leisure battery) in my cycle trailer.

God your quick on the ball DickyD , i thought at that time ther wouldnt be manny watching the site .
I am not to bad for distance from the pond, about 1/2 mile and the roads aint that bad either as the trailer has suspension

Hi Daz,

When I were a lad, I used to have a bicycle side car frame. The sort window cleaners used back in the good old days to move their ladders around. It was a five mile trip to the pond.

Portside II

Good idea if you live near the pond. Unfortunately, it's a 25 mile trip for me along the A1M - not really bike country. Without my car I'd be stuck. (you should have seen the face of the salesman when he asked what sort of car I was after and I said "One big enough for my model boats" What a picture! ) Even so the Sea Queen only just fits.

I carry mine

Pond number one is 150 m away, and is the smaller about 80m by 15m.

The lake is about 3km away (35min walk), it is about 500m wide and great for sailing.

The river/canal is 2km away and also good for sailing but only about 20m wide. Would be good for fast electric as you can see a long way in each direction.

Lukily the boat only weighs about 2.5kg.

My current project is fatter, if I ever do anything like Jaydees Bluenose I will have to think again.

'Pond number one' sounds more or less OK, but I've read a bit about Chinese agriculture, I believe they have quite a few 'number two ponds' out there as well. Waste not want not and all that.

tigertiger sounds like he has similar access to water as i do .
The river ouse 150m away (the bank is a bit steep and the tide's a bit strong)
the river aire 250m away (same as above )
the docks 300m away (ideal but ABP aint to happy concerned i may damage some of the cargo vessils in the dock,yes seriously)
the canal 400m away (great for sail but watch out for the barges )
and the pond next to the canal/docks (safe as long as there arnt any mtb's about,you know who you are !).

I bought a kiddie cycle trailer from Halfords and gave it a deck. The cradles are made from electrical conduit from B&Q and can be exchanged as other ships are built. The wheels come off and the trailer holds the models in the car.

how on earth can a plastic model damage a 100,000 ton container ship with hull plates 1/2" thick steel?

Well, if it hasn't been loaded properly then the slightest nudge may unbalance it and all the containers will slide off and the ship will fall over - like this one did last week in Antwerp!

Naw, they turned it over to paint the bottom, its cheaper than the drydock and the paint dries quicker?

dont ask me ,that was the answer when we asked ABP if we could use the dock area at the side of our pond for fast electric/ic
