Time to get the straight jacket ready!!

The calico layer is now hardened and the top planking started. Each plank is carefully shaped and joggled into the king plank avoiding getting glue on the outer surface.

Each plank is also fastened with small brass nails to represent the copper ship nails used on the full size item. The nails will all be punched down and filled when the varnishing is done. This will produce the 'spotty' appearance normally seen on the full size canopy. When removed from the moulds all the nails inside will be cut off flush to simulate the pattern of roves seen on the inside.
