Power requirements
« on: October 26, 2011, 07:10:12 pm »

Hi all

I have just resurected a Wavecrest boat that has been in my loft for 30 years.

I think this may have been manufactured by Nor - Star in the 1980's

Could anyone advise what size motor, type of speed controller and batterises for power please

Thanks for response Timo2

I don't know how to post a photo but the boat looks like a cabin cruiser, its 25" long, 9" wide and weighs about 1,600 grammes without the power

I am looking for a reasonbly fast speed so that it planes

Will try to find out how to post a photo

Thanks again

Looking here might help  http://www.modelboatmayhem.co.uk/forum/index.php?topic=2277.0

Or click "additional options" when replying, click "choose file", and browse for the one you want to attach, make sure its an acceptable filetype and size, and post.

Hi DickyP

OK let's try a Eco 600 motor on 8.4v Ni-MH pack or a 2s LiPo  about 2000mah or bigger size should make it go   ;)   and a two blade prop about 45mm

  Hope that helps

i dont know much about the Eco 600. I was using a graupner speed 600 8.4v on a 8.4v nimh with a 42 mm prop and i was getting smoke. Wouldnt a smaller prop be adviseable or will the eco deal with this prop?
