Hi to you all I'm a novice to model boating. I have plans and a hull for a Type 21 Frigate and don't know where to start. My only experience in building models is pre-cast models. It's a big project but one I would love to conquer. Any sujestions :-)

I would start by reading the build threads on the Mayhem site. You have not said what your hull will be constructed from. I do wonder if you might be better starting off, with a simpler model. To give you an awareness of working with different materials.Any problems the lads will only be to pleased tohelp.John.

Welcome to Mayhem Ian, there's lots of people on here that will be able to help and give assistance. It could be worth putting a post in the 'Warships R & D' section? Have you had a look at/registered on the Model Warships UK forum? Regards, Dave.  :-))

Ian - for getting help it would be handy to know where you are in the world (don't forget Mayhem members are world wide)
also what scale is your hull would be good starting points then as has been suggested read through some of the warship
builds and you will get an idea how to get the basics right like running gear and fitting on the decks
Once that is done then the finish of the model is up to your own skill levels  - but certain kit and fittings makers do specialise
in certain scales and can help with the more complicated bits on a warship like radars and gun directors
It could perhaps be an idea to get a slightly less complicated model for your first build and then come back to the Type 21 later.
