Hi,

Electronize do esc's that go up to 24v.

For 24 volts from 2 12 v batteries, connect the negative (black) connection on one battery to the positive(red) connection on the other battery and you have 24v across the two remaining unconnected terminals.

speed control  easy Electronize rated at 30 amp continuous not the light one about £40 ish

Batteries for 24 volts
red terminal [and wire] to speed control through switch and fuse from battery 1.

black on battery no 1 [--],  1 to red on battery 2,  black on battery 2 again through fuse and switch to speed control
you will need separate receiver battery pack with this speed control.  4.8 - 6 Volts

Boy I wish I could remember how to do the picture thingie.  Tug

Update, can now do pictures,  ;D

I gotta ask, why 24 volts?
High voltage for model boat.

Hi chugbug,

You will probably find that the motor works just as well on 12 volts.

A lot of the motors we use are rated higher than the voltage we give them.

If you use 24 volts, it will probably be too powerfull, and you will have to have the speed controller at just above stationary position. Also, it's not good for a controller to be used on the slowest setting, as they get hotter that way.

Bob,

for the bigger tugs 12 Volts just ain't man enough.

Joffre on 6 volt 4 amp and overpowered,
Drifter on 6 volt 12 amp would like 7.2 cause the bec drops out sometimes,

I put 2 x car blower motors in a RMAS Roysterer on 12 volts.
I had never seen an ocean tug plane till then  :) I had to go down to 6 volts.
Model Motors Direct do some good motors for tugs at reasonable prices.
With 24 volts you will have to ensure the wiring is up to the job too or you could have an electric heater inside your model.
It just seems rather excessive.
