hi,  all, 


i want to know if rother class lifeboat 37-29 RNLB Mary Gabriel  ever had RHYL LIFEBOAT on,   i asked the crew who served on her at rhyl  and none of them can remember,  all they said was it would have rhyl lifeboat  or just lifeboat,    rhyl had the boat from hoylake from 1990 to 1992 before she was damage on a rescue  while waiting for their mersey class to be built,   i dont know if RNLI Poole would help so i come on here.

You could always put Rhyl Lifeboat on her stern
and wait for a bolt counter to put you right or wrong.
If she was classed as a relief at Rhyl it's anyone's guess
unless Poole have some records from the time she was
there

i would've of thought that she would be a relief at Rhyl  as she was hoylakes main boat untill the mersey,  but Rhyl had her for 2 years and would of had her up untill Rhyl Mersey came on station in 1992 but she was damage on a rescue,

A friend bought a 42' Watson beach boat from the
relief fleet and we had to wait until 1200 on the day of sale
in case she was needed.
She was still named Charles Dibden on the day we brought her up
to Grimsby.

i have 1;12th scale model  at moment has hoylake lifeboat on,     if it had rhyl on i change it  but if she just had lifeboat on her stern  thne i leave hoylake on

had email today from RNLI Poole,   they had no photos of her when she was at rhyl only at hoylake,   so the RNLI contacted current owners and they said she went to bangor for service and repaint,  also they sent a photo of her on rhyl harbor slipway when she was damage and name was under the rubber bit and not above the rubber bit and not above like at hoylake,  they say tho they cant be 100% sure after it came from bangor it would've of had rhyl lifeboat on

Have you tried contacting the current owner? It lives in Chatham, and is somehow linked to the Historic Lifeboat Collection in the Dockyard. If you give these guys a ring, i'm sure you will get the answer.
