Hi just a quick catchup on how the build is going. Have done the anti slip used the stuff that Neil uses its good. I then painted it with the right colour paint. Painted and fitted the toe rails some thing like 140 nuts and bolts and 280 washers these were a pain as they are photo etched and when you break them off you have a small tab left which I had to carefully hold and put them against a stone in my dremel [time consuming]the the small items that go on the deck and also the rubbing rubber that goes around the boat. Now fitted the trim tabs and got them working as well as the trim tab indicator on the bridge [photos later] all in all coming on quite pleased with it so far have to do a bit of touch up on the paint and a clean up of the deck were dust has got through drilling.

Hi all have just got around to nearly finishing the 12-007 Mersey Model. It been quite a time but the outside is all but there some flags, cylinder fenders  and a couple of decals on the bridge and touch up of the paint work all this I hope to do in the next couple of weeks. Have started my next one so might take a bit longer. :-)

Man, that is a magnificent job. Well done. Hopefully when I get around to it, I'll be ordering up the hull for my mersey based on lifeboat 12-29, Newcastle Co. Down where I am crew. Unfortunately, funding is being diverted to a yacht-master course as I want to go on a be a navigator - if I can master the seasickness %%

Hi John,

That is superb. There is obviously an awful lot of work you have put into making the Talus and the Carriage. Can i ask how you made the links for the tracks?

Hi Charlie the tracks were made by using a bike chain and a countersunk 3mm bolt was put through the links and a thread taped into the top plates. There are 2 chains and they run either side of a raised middle section of the [ie drive wheels] which also keeps the track on. If you are careful when you tighten the bolts up so that the chain will just bend. I then put a rubber pad on each plate.

That sounds like a well Engineered solution. Is the Talus fully working then? And if so, how is it powered? I have only ever heard of one such working model, and that was mentioned in a Model Boats magazine a while back, but if i remember correctly that one was built to a much larger scale..

Hi John,
I'd be interested in knowing how you're Talas is powered too.  Also, is the HGV trailer a kit or did you scratch build it?
Top job and the Mersey, Talas and carriage, it all looks superb.

Hi the Talus is not powered as its going on display so I did not bother. Its made in a way that it can be made to run if needed in the future. The HGV lorry is a Tamiya radio controlled one but the trailer was scratch built.
