That's the slipway sorted
« on: July 08, 2013, 02:21:45 pm »

The last few weeks have been spent building a slipway for use with my Speedline 1/12th Tamar.

No boathouse as yet, the design of Moelfre's new lifeboat station is still on the drawing board.

There is a video of the launch and recovery on Youtube ......      http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dAx9-lbyFvc&feature=youtu.be

Please forgive the video quality and the music, they are nothing to do with me  ok2

Now that,s what I call an entrance!!! Brilliant,
Also a very cute pick-up, you could have it launching out the car
and then parking itself back again.  O0

Now that is an interesting idea, with the slipway unfolding off the roof rack too  :}

Yes thats what I thought too %% with it all unfolding like one of those
self operating soft top mechanisms. {-)
joking apart you have done a first class job.
If you dont mind me asking what is your running set up?
it must be brushless to move like that.

The boat has Speedline's standard shafts and 5 blade brass props.

Connected to a pair of low Kv brushless motors ( http://www.giantshark.co.uk/xyh5055-400kv-brushless-outrunner-p-403284.html ) with

70amp Escs  ( http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/uh_viewItem.asp?idProduct=24569 ), but tests show  each motor is happy with a 20amp inline fuse.

with 5 cell Lipos to complete the set up ( http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/uh_viewItem.asp?idProduct=26713 )

those batteries give plenty of running time and at top speed the hull sits on the water just the same as RNLB Kiwi running at 27knots.

Thanks for that kinmel, that info will help me and countless others
I run my 1/12th Speedline Trent on 500kv motors but at 14.4v
they are on Hobywing 90A esc,s but as you say those motors
are economic as I can sail all morning without the 5000 Nimh
running out.I just need to increase the battery voltage to get
a better performance.
