Seem to recall one of the Toy Boat Mags showing a water based (Non Flying) Sunderland type. IIRC plans were available. Tried "Search" (Yes, I know) on this forum? I remember a posting about the float based Spitfire, may be something in that thread.

  Regards  Ian.

PS. Have a plan for a BV (Blohm und Voss) single seat WW2 flyingboat you could detune for it to flob about on the surface.

I believe that was an Ashley Needham article in Model Boats a while back, Ian...that's the sort of thing that planted the seed to do this. (I knew I shouldn't have read it....)

I'm sort of thinking that the Cat, being best part made as it comes, would be an ideal base to modify.

This Sunderland is lovely - camerawork's a bit wobbly, but the landings at the end are fab! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9TOzlKpUpjI

And this Albatross is was gorgeous! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tP1ELjgFf3o

Once you get beyond the crashes at the start, the planes here are good - especially the Spruce Goose! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R5EvqNNByp4

Just shows you how well the Sunderland's hull was designed even the model had no problems taking off and landing without
getting swamped.  In the air it almost looked like the real thing.  Just needed the turrets and RAF markings.

Agreed, the Sunderland is beautiful, both on water and in the air.

Thanks for posting those links, Andy...much appreciated.

One of the old ladies I used to see every day as I crossed the river by ferry to school in Pembroke Dock.
