Hi,

I am a new member who has just taken up this hobby but have been building and flying Model Aircraft for years. My son has given me a boat that he found in the loft of a house he bought 5 years ago. The boat was inside a sideboard that he had never opened until now. It is complete including a Radio system.

I have been told that the boat could be a Billings "Sampson" but I can find no details on their Website. I have included some photos and ask if anyone can please identify it. If they can could they give me an idea what scale it was built to, it needs some accessories replacing. The boat is 36 inches long and 8 inches wide at the widest point.

The speed controller is a Hitec SP1530R but again I can find no details for this. Does anyone know the specifications for this please?

I have always liked building models and have also started to build the Higgins PT boat from the free plan in the Model Boats construction special. The hull is finished and I now have to make the superstructure. This may differ from the plan, the shape of the hull lends itself to other designs as well.

Welcome Bill

Might not be the Samson but still a great find.
Very well modelled as well by the looks.
Someone on here will probably know what it is
if it is not a scratch built figment of imagination.

Your boat would appear to be a Billings Samson 11

Nice boat by the way.

Hi,

Thanks for that information, any idea of the scale? . Yes it is a nice boat, yet to put it in the water. I need to find a local club first.

Try it in the bath first Bill
Make sure it is watertight before launching it into the lake and watch it dissappear  <:( <:(
It has obviously been squirrelled away for a few years.
Give it a few hours to prove itself.
There are a whole load of mayhemmers in your neck of the woods, I would have thought they
would be on here welcoming you
