Should I lubricate my Raboesch Waterproof Propshaft?

Well, should I? They're described as "totally maintenance-free" but what I can find, opinion-wise, on t'internet varies.

Would I potentially do any hard by adding a drop of oil? Will it do any good?

that depends if ther are eny rubber parts to the waterproofing side of things then oil will degrade it and make it leak

Wouldn't use oil but if you feel you need to lubricate I would use silicone grease.

It does say totally maintenance free so I would not bother. :-))

Then, on sober reflection and taking into account my natural laziness, I shall not.  :-))

Why not just look it up? The answer is here: http://www.model-dockyard.com/acatalog/Raboesch_Waterproof_Propshafts.html

Thanks Colin.
I did look it up. I saw that site as well as Cornwall MB from whence I bought the shaft. However, if one keeps looking there are plenty of apparent references to individuals using one sort of lubricant or another...hence the question.

Well, surely if the manufacturer says it doesn't need it that's it isn't it? As stated above, the danger is that some lubricants can damage components not intended to be lubricated, particularly seals, and it's not always immediately obvious. I would suspect that it's a thin film of moisture on the seal that provides the lubrication at the prop end without actually allowing water to enter.

It mentions sintered bronze bearings.
These are designed to be impregnated with oil in manufacture
AKA oilite. That being the case the lubrication is built in.
