Miss geico 29 rtr
« on: December 21, 2012, 07:05:03 pm »

Hi I'm new to the forum and model boats, I've just purchased a miss geico boat I've not yet purchased the batteries for it as not really sure which ones to go for ive looked at the Plazma 7.4V 3000mAh 20C but not sure if i will get enough speed from these? not looking for the most expensive nor the cheapest just something in between. Any help would be great thanks.

Speed is down, in the main, to the battery voltage and the motor. Efficiency of prop shaft lubrication and the prop to motor link will also have an effect. Basically, for the fastest speed you should buy the highest voltage battery the motor can take. This will be stated in the instructions that came with the boat.
Before worrying too much about speed you should take some time learning to control the boat.  :police:

3000mAh is a bit small. I have a pair of Desire Power 2S 4200mAh batteries in my Blackjack 29 (same hull as the Geico, different motor/ESC/running gear).

Thanks, I'm looking at either getting the turnigy 5000mAH 4s 14.8v 20c-30c lipo battery or the HPI Plazma 7.4V 5300mAh 30C Rectangular LiPo battery, which one of these would make the boat the fastest?

The Geico 29 is designed for two 2S packs in series, one on each side. If you are thinking of exceeding this, you need to check that the ESC and motor will handle the higher voltage. The ESC in the Blackjack 29 will go to 6S (2x 3S), but I think that the one in the Geico is only good to 4S.

Here's a bit about "c" ratings and your boat. The mah number is capacity or runtime not performance.

The "C Rating" is the batteries current rating. The higher the current rating the more the motor can show it's true potential. If the C rating is too low and the torque demand too high, it will seem like the boat is stuttering. This stuttering is very common to see on rc cars with poor quality batteries. When you punch the throttle the motor will demand a certain amount of current from the battery. If this demand is not met it will seem to stop and start very quickly. Long story short the better the C rating and quality of battery, the better your performance will be.On my BJ 26 I now use 4900 Mah 25c 2s Trak Power batteries but this is how my boat runs on a completely stock setup without ANY mods using 4600 Mah Intellect NI-MH batteries.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4bxOv...e=channel_page This on the other hand is what the boat can do with my Trak Power batteries.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CRIR2...eature=channel

Is it possible to use the stock motor and esc with a 2s lipo and and 3s lipo battery without any modifications.

I have merged this topic together, as it was in a separate thread.
