heres what i did. It needed to be wide enough to fit around the boats but small enough to be trasnported on the pushchair along with my other models, therefore it folds  :-))

I've fitted metal plates in my boats, and if 1 breaks I'll put a magnet inside another boat and go out get the other back, my thinkin was I don't want to have a boat sat around doing nothing incase 1 breaks down, seems a waste of money to me, and if they are stuck together with a magnet it's not so hard to try and push it back shore.

I have collected a few photos of rescue crafts of one kind or another - thought I share a few of those images with you chaps. My personal rescue boat is my US Coast Guard Motor Life Boat - a scale model of the real 47' used mainly in North America for high risk rescues in high surf and Seas. The model has dual 550 water cooled motors that has the power to push or pull a wide range of crafts. The Tug boat is a friends boat and started out as a RTR Aquacraft Altantic tug but has since been highly modified for rescue use.  The others are just interesting vessels I have seen over the years.
Enjoy

Boat stranded, snagged up, adrift?
 O0

Gunnery practice for the warship boys I say  :-)) {-)
...... Up Periscope anyone?

Magnets sound a great idea but can I ask, is there any part
of the electronics they will harm - sorry to bear a spanner.

I did originally think about that, but others didn't seem to think there would be much of a problem, the magnet wouldn't have to be incredibly strong anyway, so even if there was a problem with interference to the radio or anything, just move the magnet a bit further away from the electrics. I thought of it after having to try and push my GF's bath duck back to shore after 1 of the motors died and so all it could manage was a circle, and the duck being completely round, was incredibly difficult to push anywhere using either of my other boats, so a way of 'sticking' them together seemed a good idea.

Plus, what you'd spend on a rescue boat can be saved and put towards another model...
