Waveney Class
« on: March 29, 2012, 08:24:56 pm »

Hi All,

I have acquired a very nice Metcalf Waveney, as yet i am undecided as to which lifeboat it will be built to.

I already have a question about this model and its around the propultion.  It has been suggested to me that brushless motors would be a good fit, as i have no experience of these motors i was wondering if you had any suggestions as to
a, which motors and from where
b, batteries, sealed lead or lipo
c, which speed controllers

the next question is what propellers to use?  the white metal ones look as if they would not be at all suitable for a performance set up.
Sorry for the simple questions, but this is my first lifeboat and i wish to do it justice.
regards
Ian

The white metal props will probably be no use for a working model.

Can't help with the motors as i dont know much about brushless. I use 900BB turbo's for mine and it goes very well. I used 60mm 3 bladed brass props also.

I built a Waveney and you can see the build here - http://danwalker.co.uk/Waveney_html/wavinfo.html

cheerrs dan for the link, it will make good reading for me.   I agree with the props, did you use standard 60mm props or ones with  a specific pitch?

Just standard ones. The thing would fly on brushless motors and im sure theres someone here who can offer more info.

The 900bb's achieve a nice scale speed and more then enough power.
