Mystery Model
« on: April 01, 2012, 07:22:46 pm »

Hi All
I'm new to model boats and new to this forum. I've recently acquired a model which I'm struggling to identify. Any help you can give as to what type of boat it is and perhaps, if it is a kit build, who the makers are, would be most appreciated. The hull is fabric covered onto a wooden frame and with a very heavy flat keel.
I [hopefully] attach an image.
Thank you so much.
Tony

looks like a thames barge to me. Flat bottom and side lowering stays for when the bot bottoms at low tide.

I would vote for a small Dutch botter. The sprit sail is not the most common but the round ended lee boards are typical. I think it's a mix.
Chris.

Thank you both for your kind responses.

My own feelings are that it is a Dutch style.

Thanks again
