Twin screws one rudder Offset
« on: May 03, 2012, 07:01:00 pm »

Just aquired a Model Slipway  ''Safety Range Vessel'' already buillt and my first venture into electric boats . Tried it  out yesterday seemed  to run ok (Did'nt Sink) and planed alright . Very noisy in reverse though . Anyway just noticed today thet the  rudders are differently aligned to the screws ,Port rudder  is dead centre to the screw Starboard ruuder offset   to the left of cntre  .Is this usual or did the guy get it wrong .Hopefully not a problem as beyond my skills to do anything about it Thanks for any info on this

The builder got it wrong.
I usually fit my rudders slightly offset to allow easy removal of the shaft(s) unless it would compromise the scale appearance.
That particular craft can have either as some were built to facilitate shaft removal on the full size craft.

Not really, shouldn't be a noticeable problem.
If you want to know any more about these models I was in charge of the refits on the real boats and was responsible for getting the permission to produce the model.
